As a long-time resident of Half Moon Bay, the small coastal town holds a lot of great memories for me. The Matilija Poppy grows in abundance everywhere on the coast. This particular bush was overflowing with blooms and buds on a beautiful clear day right next to my favorite coffee shop on Main Street. I love their transparent tissue-like petals and their vibrant centers.
