Descanso Gardens in the spring offers so many amazing tulips in bloom, that I make it an annual trip. This particular bloom was an accidental shot - literally holding the camera with outstretched arms over an impressive array of tulips that had been freshly watered. I love everything about this painting: the sheer intensity of the color, the tight composition that draws you in to the core, the crisp lighting of the spring morning, and of course, the wonderful water drops.
